Much later than we ourselves would have liked, we can confirm that there will once again be a major summer holiday chess tournament in Vlissingen.
It was a close call for a while, as the by now familiar Atrium of the HZ University of Applied Sciences was not available in the week we preferred, and we also did not want to clash with other tournaments in The Netherlands and Belgium.

But mark your calendars: from 1 to 8 August 2026, it’s chess in Vlissingen!

We have found a new venue at Scheldemond College, a secondary school in Vlissingen that places a strong emphasis on (elite) sports. The tournament format will remain unchanged: most rounds will be played in the evenings, allowing everyone to enjoy the beach or the natural beauty of Walcheren during the day.

Of course, we are very grateful to HZ University of Applied Sciences for nearly 30 years of hospitality and support for our tournament.

This is still fresh news and several details remain to be finalized, but the playing dates are fixed—so go ahead and book a holiday home, hotel, or campsite.
